The History of HeatHamster

In 2020, two entrepreneurs from two very different companies looked each other in the eye. They decided to start a joint venture to take on a problem that had never been solved before. A challenge many believed was impossible. A business that, at first, made no sense at all.

This was the beginning of a journey of learning. A rocky road of experimentation. An adventure of discovery.

Data and a scalable cloud solution were a must, but we didn’t want our customers to pay for yet another software. Instruments and sensors were needed, but we never wanted to become a hardware store. We wanted to spend time on-site, but we didn’t want our working time to be another cost item. And we needed to team up with operators, managers, and engineers across our customers’ organizations.

How to create a scalable business with all this complexity? Most importantly, how to become a partner in profitability, rather than a supplier of costs?

One year later, a clean-up of a 1 MW heat exchanger resulted in a couple of hundred Euros in energy savings, per day. This was promising!

Five years later we had generated over twenty million Euros in customer profits. We had helped to save over hundred thousand tons in CO2 emissions. We had gained dozens of delighted customers across the globe.

We don’t know nearly everything yet — but we know it’s possible. That’s why we established The Hamster Company in 2025. To have a safe home for the Hamsters. And a reliable long-term partner for our customers.
